Information about Elliot Scheiner

Elliot Scheiner is a record producer and record engineer. Scheiner has received 16 Grammy Award nominations, five of which he won, and he has been awarded two Emmy nominations and three TEC Award nominations.

He started as Phil Ramone's assistant at A&R Recording in New York City, and quickly advanced to an engineer. By 1973 he had begun to freelance as an engineer and producer, becoming the first person ever to work as a freelance engineer for other artists.

Scheiner has produced and engineered a range of artists, including Beck, Faith Hill, Steely Dan, Toto, Ricky Martin, Sting, Bruce Hornsby, Eagles, B.B. King, Van Morrison, Fleetwood Mac, and Aerosmith.

Scheiner was nominated in 2005 for an Emmy Award for Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Variety or Music Series or Special or Animation, for his mixing for Eric Clapton in: "Great Performances; Eric Clapton Crossroads Guitar Festival" (1972), along with Mick Guzauski, Ed Cherney, and Neil Dorfsman.

He mixed the IMAX film All Access in surround sound. The film footage includes Dave Matthews, Sheryl Crow, Macy Gray, Kid Rock, Moby, George Clinton, Mary J. Blige, Al Green, and Rob Thomas.

Scheiner and Bob Ludwig did the 5.1 surround sound mix of Roy Orbison's Black & White Night concert DVD.

Recently, Scheiner was involved with the design of the ELS surround sound system for Acura's 3.2TL luxury sedan. The audio system has received rave reviews from the automotive press.
