- Jimmy the Gent was one of only two films in which Warner Bros.'s two biggest male and female stars, Cagney and Davis, both appeared; the second one was The Bride Came C.O.D..
- Mayo Methot was Humphrey Bogart's wife from 1938 to 1945, before Bogart left her for the younger Lauren Bacall. Methot and Bogart fought so often and so violently that they were known in Hollywood as "the Battling Bogarts."
