A Latino Canadian is a Canadian of Latin American descent. The majority of Latino Canadians are recent immigrants arriving in the late 20th century, most of which came from Mexico, El Salvador, Chile, Colombia, Peru, and smaller numbers from Cuba and elsewhere, with all or nearly all the Latin American countries represented.

The reason for immigrating to Canada include economic opportunities and also political reasons in their native countries, including Chileans who wanted to escape from Augusto Pinochet, or Salvadoreans fleeing the civil war in their country.

The largest Latino Canadian communities are in Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver, and are rapidly growing in size in the provinces of Alberta, Manitoba and Nova Scotia.

The majority of Latino Canadians speak the Spanish language, or Portuguese if they are from Brazil, but are also bilingual or multilingual. Latino Canadians living in Montreal have exposure to not only Spanish, but English and French as they are living in the French-speaking province of Quebec.
