A Poodle hybrid is a cross between a Poodle and some other dog breed. These dogs are properly referred to as mixed breed dogs, and don't differ in any way from any mixed breed dog. While some of the crosses have been accidental, most of the very successful crosses are deliberate and industries unto themselves.

Although breed crosses are not technically breeds, they are marketed as such by breeders. Often touted are the alleged non-shedding properties of certain crosses.

Names for hybrids

None of the following hybrids have been recognized as breeds, but many people who sell such dogs give them invented portmanteau names to enhance their marketability. The crosses are usually with the appropriately sized Poodle for the size of the second breed; for example, Cockapoos are usually Miniature Poodle mixes.

Any crossbreed with a poodle is usually given a "...poo" or "...oodle" based name, although most of these are fanciful concoctions by individual owners, such as pooter or perrier for a poodle-terrier mix, and are not part of the mainstream.
