Information about TOTO (company)

This article is about the Japanese toilet manufacturer. For the American pop/rock band, see Toto (band); for other uses, see Toto.
TOTO Ltd. (TOTO株式会社 Tōtō Kabushiki-gaisha) (TYO: 5332 ) was founded in 1917. It is a company based in Kitakyushu, Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan, and Japan's largest manufacturer of flush toilets. The company invented and patented the Washlet.

The name "TOTO" is an abbreviation of the two Japanese words forming its full name, Tōyō Tōki (東洋陶器 Oriental Porcelain). It is the largest toilet manufacturer in the world (though not the largest sanitaryware manufacturer), and produces over 7 million toilets each year.[1][2] The wholly owned subsidiary TOTO USA was founded in 1990, with manufacturing facilities opened in the Atlanta, Georgia area in 1991 and 1996. Other international plants are located throughout the Pacific rim and China.

Washlet

The TOTO Washlet is an innovative toilet seat which features an integrated bidet. The bidet feature activates at the push of a button on the seat or a remote control; a small wand extends from the back of the rim and begins to jet water towards the backside of the user. Different Washlet models have features such as air fresheners, seat heaters, and dryers.
