ThreadWeaver was developed by Mirko Boehm for KDE 4 for an easy way for KDE software to take advantage of multi-core processors. It allows for tasks to use utilize all available CPU resources as well as temporarily suspending tasks. Krita has implemented visual filter previews using ThreadWeaver to prevent GUI lockups.
