Many attribute the results of the election to the Zinoviev Letter, which was published in the Daily Mail four days before the election, though it is difficult to demonstrate that this had a major impact, as the Labour vote actually increased from 1923. This may be due to Labour putting up eighty more candidates than they did in the previous years election.
