Nepal is divided into 14 administrative zones (अञ्चल, "anchal"), which are divided into 75 districts (जिल्ला, "jilla"). The 14 administrative zones are grouped into five development regions (विकास क्षेत्र). Each district is headed by a chief district officer (or CDO) responsible for maintaining law and order and coordinating the work of field agencies of the various government ministries.

Bagmati Zone is a zone of Nepal which is named after the river Bagmati. It is in Central Development Region of Nepal. The zone contains the Kathmandu Valley with its conurbation of 1,5 million inhabitants.
